‘At the beginning of the book, I struggled for several pages with the literary style. It was new to me. As I kept going I realised it was the only way this story could be written. A story of chaos and struggle and trying to maintain as much of yourself as possible for your child and her wellbeing. The level of vulnerability in this book has had a positive impact on my own willingness to be a bit more vulnerable.

I feel fortunate to have attended the interactive installation in Glasgow where I heard Jen speak about her book and some of the other work she has done around mental health. Writing thoughts and feelings on the installation walls inspired me to purchase pavement chalk to write feelings and messages that will wash away with the next rainfall.’ Sharon Cobb

‘What an amazing insight into mania. I absolutely loved it and the powerful analogies and metaphors used. I will always be intrigued to know what my pinky and ring finger are chatting about! As a visual person, I loved all the imagery but mostly, the power of how a child’s love can help you weather the most turbulent time. An extremely articulate and passionate account which is written with a raw vulnerability on topics we all need to better understand for ourselves and others.’ Miriam Newton
